Safari Snorkel intake noise

I had a K&N filter on a 2.4L td (surf motor in a 2wd Hilux) after 4months the leading edge of the intake turbo impeller had rounded off and showed some very slight impact marks, I approached Rocket (importer) with the problem and there solution was to find any excuse under the sun so as not to honer the warranty for filter, after that I used the Finer Filter oil foam type with no additional damage caused after 4 odd years later when i sold the ute.
Now i don't use K&N ever for any reason
