  • 17 litres per 100k

As the heading suggest, that's my average fuel consumption per tank. Is that a normal rate?

I have heaps of accesories on my rig. Steel bull bar, dual battery, 2 inch lift, std tyres, rear drawers, uhf, snokel and twin locks.

    cheers

Yes, for offroad use should be about 18l per 100...
For city/freeway is a way too much....

      Thanks Stan,

I was getting 1350k per tank on Shell Votex. I switched to BP Ultimate which is approximately $30 more per tank and only managed 1150 per tank. Why is that so, I thought it's a cleaner fuel.

I have now switched back to std Ron 91 shell and a full tank only cost me 172, a saving of $50 per fill (compared to BP Ultimate). It will be interesting to how much i get out this tank.

It's 5 per cent off road work.

      Cheers

        Same Here in Dubai

        Hay Guys

Am running on a 98 Octain Fuel Here in Dubai and I have a heavy foot in Rregrads to speed (Cause avg road limits here are 80-100KM) and on High ways (120-140 KM/h)

I manage to get 950- 1012 KM of my dual tanks (avg. 16.5 L/ 100KM)

Case 1: When Cruisng at 120KM and set the Cruise control I get 13.3 L / 100KM (Continous Driving for 2 Hours)

Case 2: Average city driving (Stop and Go) 15.5 L / 100 KM

        Case 3: Traffic Jams 17.7 l/ 100KM

Case 4: Loaded With Family, KIDS, The Mrs. Shopping :?, And the rest and driving for four hours to a trip ( 16.3 L / 100KM)

However if you limit the speed to 75 KM and set the Cruise control , WHich I did one because I needed to enjoy a slow travel of a freeway (Stupid me) I managed a 9.0 L / 100KM    and that from my 4.0 LTR Petrol - Amazing -

I guess it is normal Wengnuts , taking into consideration that your rig is fully loaded with extra weight and extra lift.

        Cheers

I had the same concerns about my fuel consumption which is very similar to some of the figures that others are reporting - Average 17.6. My car has 88,000 kms on it, though I have only owned it since 82,000 kms. I have only put premium ULP in it.

I am booking it in soon for a service so will get it checked out then.

The car has a dual role of mum's taxi and weekend toy. Has probably spent 30% of its time since I got it in 4WD or towing.

The one tank of fuel we have gone through with no 4WDing and no towing did not offer any better fuel consumption. This tank was 95% wife driving . . . . . . . Hmmmmm!

            Cheers - Byrnsie

Sqeaky - I get very similar figures to you.

I guess it doesn't take a rocket scientist to state that the 120 weighs in at 2 tonne and if you drive it spritely - it will drink the dinosaur bones. I don't drive like an old fart - but I don't roar off from every stop either - and I think driving style makes all the difference with these modern engines. I find the ScanGauge is handy, you lift your right foot slightly and do 90 up the 90 zone hill instead of 100 and you can see the fuel flow fall dramatically.

My long term average is currently sitting at 13.54l/100km excluding off road trips and towing and my overall average is 14.37l/100km. Not bad considering I live atop a 2100 foot mountain!

I towed the camper trailer to Gloucester and back last weekend, with four adults on board, and averaged 15.1 for the trip.

So I guess I'm saying if you go a little light on the right foot, one can achieve fairly good figures from a petrol 120.

Is that your average after fitting the extractors?

This is the average since I bought the car new in February 2006. The extractors were fitted in February 2007. Unfortunately, I fitted my winch, snorkel and 2.5" suspension lift all within a few weeks of the extractors, so the fuel efficiency benefit of the extractors has been disguised by the increased consumption these other items bring. I reckon my consumption would be higher due to the accessories if I hadn't fitted the extractors.

Try as I might I cannot get worse than 15.1 L per 100!

                        Averaging 13's mormally.

Could be worse you could own a patrol petrol

Roofracks and ARB bar take the biggest toll on fuel consumption.

Still, if fuel economy was my holy grail, I would have bought a Prius.

I leave the racks on, because I use them - so I pay for the convenience of throwing stuff up there whenever I need.
