I've got a 2003 4Spd V6 Prado and find that it runs significantly different on the 98RON as opposed the to 91 & 95. I'm averaging 13.6 L to the 100km and I'm not easy on the accelerator getting ruffly 1250-1300km range out of a full tank( As opposed to 1100km max on 91). I find that it really depends where I fill up, I generally use Caltex Woolworths but the fuel seems to vary from station to station, some stations I find the fuel quality crappy and get less km's. It's generally just me driving around in it most of the time, I've always got my Rear drawer system fully loaded and my fridge permanantly mounted in the back plus and Awning. I run 38PSI in my tyres running BFG All Terrain. I drive 80km a day to and from work, ruffly 3/4 km of stop start but mostly highway avg 80km/h. I'm pretty impressed with the fuel economy for the size of the car and the power it has and considering it is the 4Speed model its a cut above! Certainly worth the extra 15c per litre!

    Cheers

I'm filling with 96 octane fuel at present, from a local servo, and I'm getting approx. 2 litres/100km better consumption. However the fuel is 10c/litre more expensive, so I thought I'll have to do some calculations...

Well, turns out that I'm 16 cents/100km better off using the Premium...and the Prado goes noticeably better, too.

In short, if the difference in price between ULP and premium is less than 23 cents/litre, then I am better off getting Premium petrol, if it is more than that, stay with ULP.
