  • Torque output - Auto vs Manual

    Hi All,

I have been doing some research on the 120 series V6's and have read that the torque output is lower in the auto (343nm) than it is in the manual (376nm), until 2009 where they were the same. Also read somewhere else that its the other way around. Which this correct? Not an issue really I guess, more just keen to know. I have done a search and turned up nothing.

Also noticed that the Hilux is rated the same for both.

    Cheers,
Wish List: Late 120 series or 150 series V6 preferably manual, the funds to buy said vehicle

Current ride: MY2002 Mits. Pajero V6 manual With a couple of bits and pieces

According to the Toyota brochures the early petrol manual had a different torque output than the automatic, after the 2006 update the torque was the same for manual and automatic.

    Early automatic 376Nm @ 3800rpm
    Early manual 343Nm @ 2400 - 4800rpm
    Late V6 376Nm @ 3800rpm.

The flat torque curve from 2400rpm would most likely mean you couldn't tell the difference between the two.

This would no doubt the same time they changed the auto from 4sp to 5sp. When we bought it had to be 5sp. Better on petrol, more torque and just a smoother ride in general.
