  • 250k service requirements?

Just curious as to what's required for the 250k service on my 06 1grfe 6 speed manual?
At 244k it had transmission fluid and coolant changed and at 245k had oil and filter change.
I did air filter, plugs and a new belt when I got it at 244k. It has 254k on it now and I'm about to do oil and filter.
    What else should be done?
    Thankyou
    Adam

As you've done the big items, it's just the usual oil and filter ; and grease the tailshaft and uni joints.

Diff and transfer case oils ?

I got mine at 175k with what I thought was impeccable service records. Yet no records of diff oils being done. I did then all at 180 just to be sure expecting horrid oils coming out but they must've been done at some point. At least I now can keep track of regularity .

I guess that just leaves the power steering fluid to check, diffs, transfer case and maybe drain a litre or so of the coolant into a clean bucket held underneath and look for floaties in it. If someone was diy servicing beforehand definitely check the front diff oil. They may have stripped the old p.i.t.a Allen drain bolt and never bothered with it since. Worth a look anyway. You've already done a fair bit so you may as well do the lot for peace of mind. If you're doing it all yourself it's no problem financially but if you're taking the car to a mechanic that would get dear.

Check the brake fluid. It'll probably be darkish anyway even if it was flushed 6 months ago. If you bleed it yourself you're only up for 3 bottles of brake fluid at $30 in total provided you've got whatever little accessory to attach to the bleed nipple. While you've got the wheels off you'll be able to see how much you've got left on your brake pads.

Check the condition of the cv boots and also the rack end boots. Again, quite cheap if you can do that stuff yourself if they need attention.
Fuel filters typically get changed every 80,000km so the 240,000km mark would've been the time for its 3rd time replacement. Real easy to do yourself.

Grease the driveshaft nipples every time you change the oil. This lubricates the Uni joints and slide yolks. They can go with long term neglect, but if you do this religiously then you'll only need 2 pumps or maybe 1 and a half pump from your grease gun and accelerating should feel a bit smoother from the driveline to your driver's seat. A bone dry driveshaft can also cause a slight thud from underneath when you come to a complete stop. If they are dry, then about 6 pumps into each nipple will fill up the Uni's, and stop as soon as you hear the easily audible cracking of the seal. With the slide yolks you won't hear any crackling when it's full. Only pump as much into those as you did the nipples near it sort of thing as it's easy to over do otherwise.
