Whichever way I look at it the 90l light on the fuel gauge can be nothing but a figment of imagination from Toyota. Page 331 of the instruction book says fuel capacity without subtank 87L with sub 180L. So when the light illuminates fuel remaining must be either 87L or 93L. I cant remember which tank empties first.
And I cant figure why the tanks have not been designed to be used independently. I cant think of any good reason to have them "interconnected". For instance if you get any contaminated fuel the lots buggared. If you want to calculate your fuel consumption accurately both tanks have to be filled and sometimes it takes a while to consume 180L. I dont suppose there is a simple ( read cheap) way to have them work independently?
