How many PradoPointers are using ethanol blended fuel?

I filled my 120 with United e98 tonight for the first time, I got sick of driving past $1.22/litre 98 octane and paying $1.35 for BP Ultimate - so I thought I'd give it a go.

Any opinions or feedback or horror stories?

    Drew.

That's the only stuff my car had tasted until yesterday (apart from the odd country town where we couldn't get it). I'm interested in seeing any changes in performance.

Where the f#&%$&K are you finding $1.22 / litre fuel - all I'm seeing is $1.35 - $1.40 / litre for regular unleaded

I'm hanging out to get over to Qld so I can see what real fuel prices should be.

            Hey Kel

At that price it's still worth driving over to tank up - it is a 180 L tank

I would use it if they sold it out here in the country but they dont !
I am fully behind it ( ethanol blending ) I feel it is a great thing, a product made by Aussie farmers that is turned into a fuel how could that be bad !! if we have to use 10 percent less petrol bought off the middle east ( because of ethanol blend ) that would be great too !

Hey Embi lets line up side by side and see who gets to 180 kmh first.......... ( on a closed course on private land wearing the appropiate safety equipment of course  )

The Petrol is a lovely grunty motor, goes like stick

Oh and the second test would be to drive at 100 kmh and see who runs out of fuel first Doh ! 1 to each.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm finding it hard to spot replies in the volumes of email.

My first tank of ethanol fuel went fine, averaged about 13.5l/100km, the second tank included some freeway driving and off-roading and I managed 13.1l/100km! So I'm very happy, I'll continue using United e98 for now, see how the long term figures spin out.

Power feels about the same, maybe a bit more.

As for the justifying petrol engines blah blah, I just love the sound of my exhaust since I fitted the extractors. Vroom, vroom.

                          E10 fuel for Prado 120

                          Gidday,
I have an 05 Prado V6 P, from new I ran only premium while the price difference was only 7 - 8 cents a litre, now E10 ($1.35 ) will do just fine. The first couple of tanks was gone pretty quick but now, dependant how you drive it, I can manage 12.5 to 13.0 lit per 100 k's.

I've been using it for ages. I started using ethanol blended fuel when it was popular in the early 90s (before the smear campaigns started). I'm on my fourth car and haven't had any problems at all.

In my 06 GXL I get around 12.9-13.9L/100ks depending on what I'm doing.
