I was struggling with getting a good price on a diesel until I decided to speak to the fleet sales manager instead of the normal sales people which deal with the consumer market. FYI, I am purchasing my VX Diesel on a novated lease with a Silver fleet discount. However, I also gave my fleet status to many Sydney dealers, used 2 auction brokers and they all came back with bottom line prices much, much higher than the fleet sales manager at this one dealer I went to.
His first words were "I just care about getting the numbers". Of course he can give me a good deal because his performance metrics are aligned primarily to volume.
Anyway this was my story. The great thing is I didn't even have to negotiate anything with the fleet guy. He just calculated the numbers and said this is it 60,400 first go. So smooth compared to the complicated process of going through the people on the sales floor.
Anyway this is my advise, if you can get a fleet discount head straight to the fleet department of your local dealer

I am just wondering if it is possible to get a price of $60,000 drive away for a VXD4D without being in a salary sacrifice situation. I have a station wagon which my company will not change even if I pay the difference.
So the new Prado will be in the garage most of the time except weekends and trips. My problem is that salary sacrifice is only really effective if you do more than 25,000km's per year. I think I will just buy it outright.
I have found that my local Toyota dealer has been very helpful and am now looking towards getting a good deal on a GX with option pack 2. He cannot give me any price yet on the option pack but he is aware I am after a fleet type discount. Should have a quote in one or two weeks.
Just for your info he said all delivery targets were still on track with no delays! Maybe they squeezed a few more D4D's on the ship. He was adamant. Crystal pearl still appears to only be available on the VX and Grande. Bugger.

I think salary sacrifice and fleet discounts are two different things. I could go in to any dealer right now and pay 60,000 for a vx just using the fleet discount and not salary sacrificing. The important thing is the fleet discount

My point is that you 'normally' only get fleet pricing if you are salary sacrificing a vehicle through a company that gets a fleet price discount.
Thats what I have been told in the past. If the vehicle isnt salary sacrificed they cannot offer fleet pricing.
One more thing, a toyota saleman told me today that heavy discounting was almost as good as fleet pricing anyway.
