  • D4D Servicing - Here is the situation

    I have a 2008 D4D GXL, currently on lease until Dec 2011.
    Just about to book in my 80,000k service. I need to make sure I get the expensive service items done BEFORE I own the car, while the company is still paying.
    So, do I push to get another 10,000k's on before Dec or is the 90,000k not that expensive?

    A bit more info, I get mine serviced at Pennant Hills Toyota, as that is where I bought it from, and strangely enough, I have no horror stories, I am actually happy with their services and service. In doing this, they offered me an extended warranty (6 years total), but is the extended warranty worth the trouble (and expense) of driving to Sydney for each service..

    Hi MDSimpson,

    If your going to keep the car another 3 years I would be opting for the factory extended warranty,
    as you only need the dash to crack and or an injector issue and you have well and truly recovered
    the cost of the warranty.

    I think you'll find the 100000k service will be the expensive one.

      I think the 80000k's is the dear one, so get it done now, and follow up with the 90000 before lease runs out.

      Re the extended warranty. I took extended warranty out from new.
      Recently had the rattle caused by injectors and this happened 8 months out of warrant.
      Toyota were good enough to come to the party for half the parts and no labour to replace the injectors. Swann Insurance picked up up the balance, so I am a fan of the extended warranty.

      Whilst the dealer I bought vehicle from submitted the claim on my behalf not all services were done there.

      One thing though I know Toyota perused my service book to see that all services were performed within km's and time frame in manual. No doubt Swann did the same.

        Don't know about the D4Ds but on the 120 V6, the major ones are at 40,000km intervals. The rest are all pretty minor.
        Might as well get the 90,000km service done as you would have nearly done the 6 month service interval.

          Thanks guys, I'll push for both and if needed, talk Toyota into doing the belts etc if not already included in the 80 or 90k service.
          As for the warranty, I'll see if I can stick with it....

            Gidday,

            I have a D4D 2008 and am still experiencing a similar rattle. I have had one injector replaced already.The rattle only happens when motor is cold, in Drive with foot on brake (stationary)

              Like the saying goes: "If you're on a good thing then stick to it." You have obviously found a dealer that provides good service and wants to look after you. Are you servicing by time (months) or distance travelled?

                Dealer will be able to give you a quote for the cost of the 90k service. I just had mine done and it was $400ish but I had some extra bits done including the fuel filter between the tanks. Not sure how much that would add but at with $70 in parts it would add $100+.
