    Hi,

I have a set of Konig Rallye chains, these are suitable for both mud/snow -so more heavy duty than snow chains. They fit fine on the rear, but haven't tried on the fronts. In the 150 manual it actually states only to install on the rear tyres.

    cheers
    Rob

I have driven up to the snow every year for the last twelve years, ten of them in a all wheel drive subaru and for the last two in my prado.
Only once in extremely heavy snow conditions did I fit the chains to the subaru but even then I would have been ok without them ( the subaru had low range and I did sometimes use it).
As long as you drive with caution in a four wheel drive vehicle you will be fine but by all means fit chains where needed for added safety.

Just got back from Falls Creek - We've been going up during the school hold for over 10 years, and this was the first time chains had to be fitted to 2wd. We just selected HL and powered on, not an issue.

Had the best snow ever - deep and dry. Excellent skiing!

          Yea,
The only real difficulty I've seen is when you get sheet-ice at the end of the day on Bitumin on a hill coming home from Perisher. The drizzle of the day had frozen about 5 mm thick and was really slippery.
I had trouble standing on it when I stopped to help a car that had slid off the road. I really don't think 4 or 6 wheel drive really helps under those conditions without chains.
