I have checked toyota website in Slovakia ( Europe). Prados (diesel and petrol) have oil changed every 15.oookms. There are 4 seasons, summer +30 C, winter up to -25 C. Whats different in OZ ?

Good to see another new Prado.
What have you ordered Petrol/Diesel, & what model.
To answer you question on oil changes:- Both the petrol & Diesel are now 10.000 kms, The previous Diesel's were 5,000kms.
The grade & type of oil will vary depending which engine & climate, but a 15W 40 would cover most applications.

What is the difference between Oz and Europe as far as service intervals are concerned? (and NO, I don't have the answer)

It is because the fuel quality especially diesel is much higher in Europe to meet EuroIV emission standards. Hense the oil lasts a lot longerDont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further

I'm gonna plead dumber here as my understanding was that the new D4D that we get in Oz was compliant with Euro IV emission controls. On the other hand it does seem to be a selling point lately. (Less service required) Hence oil & filter changes 15000 km ??
Personally, I think that is to far, be it Petrol or Diesel.
I know a lot of people that still change their oil at 5,000 km.
"If you do a lot of stop start driving" (Frequent oil changes can only be good for the engine) :idea: :wink:

There are in Europe most of cars that change oil every 15.000 and some after 20.000. Those are same models/engines as sold here.Originally posted by Fazza

Believe it or not, a Land Rover Discovery Series II (late 1999 - 2005) has an Australian published service booklet that shows the oil change intervals as every 20,000 kms.
Most owners that I know typically change every 10,000 kms anyway, just to be on the safe side.
Since low sulphur diesel is now widely available in Australia, I would imagine that the oil in diesel engines will remain cleaner for a lot longer.Comment
