    Hi ba77hy,
You would think that as long as the service provider is qualified and the service is carried out to the vehicle service requirements that there shoudn't be a problem.
I have even seen in other posts that minor services can be carried out by yourself as long as you keep the receipts for the oil, filters ect and Toyota is happy with that for waranty purposes.
The fact that at Toyota and other dealers, you will more than likely have an apprentice servicing your car and at the workshop you will have a tradesman doing the job (probably an ex dealer mechanic) and the cost is a big indicator as to where I want my car serviced.
However I do understand your concerns and when you continue to get your car serviced at the dealer, make sure that you dont have to pay for unnecessary items like the tyres pumped up and the windscreen washers to have water added.
    cheers

Yep I have a mate, 2IC in service Dep at local toyota so I am being well looked after.

I only speak from experiences that I have witnessed, I worked for Fair Trading for 7 years and over the time dealt with many complaints between dealers and customers!!.. The ones that usually ended up in the courts, or Tribunals were always the ones where a third party came into the equation.

Just if you are doing it make sure you keep full evidence, as if it goes to court, it will be up to you to prove your claims, and that even if the vehicle was serviced at toyota that problem would have still occured, or not be recognised earlier.

      Regards

I suppose at the end of the day all you need is someone who you can trust with your precious Prado and at what price. In your case Ba77hy sounds like you will be well looked after.
It is good to hear your opinion, based on where you have worked, and epitomises what Prado point is all about. - keeping people informed - informally...

A lot of members have been getting a bit frightened of the cost of replacing the timing belt on a D4D.
As I was at my dealer today I ask the question? (approx $ 450 added on to the 150,000 service cost)
Not such a drama after all.
          Cheers,
