Wow - reading this makes me think I wasted a lot of time finding my 07 with only 80K on it last year... Sounds like I could have gone for a higher spec'd model with more K's for the same money. Still happy with my GX diesel and glad to know it is going to last a while which kind of justifies the high resale price.

I've seen a couple that have died of black death (oil sludge)
It's critical to check the service records carefully and ensure it's had regular oil changes. Be wary of city cars that have missed or overly extended the service interval.

Should add; Service books can be altered:
Always check under the engine oil filler and take a look in as far as you can with a torch when inspecting a potential purchase. A well serviced 1GR should still be relatively clean even with nominal to high kilometres on the clock. If it's black as the ace of spades and has deposit build up then steer clear.[CENTER][B][I][SIZE=1][COLOR=blue]1KZ-TE Turbo Diesel, 5 speed manual, 3.5 inch lift, 265/70/17 Mickey Thompson MTZ, D-Tronic chip, Boost controller, mandrel exhaust, dump pipe, modified intake, ARB steel bar, Magnum winch, Safari snorkel, rear drawers, half cargo barrier, dual batteries, Uniden UHF, Sat Nav, reverse camera, Magellan XL , Tjm bash plates, ARB alloy roof rack, rear telescopic work light and numerous other modifications!!!

Just had a 2006 120 in this week for its 440k service, I picked it up from the goldy and dropped it home, was a v6 grande and still drives better than a whole heap that ive driven with less than half the k's ..actually for the mileage its in amazing condition. but they dont skimp either service cost them nearly 3k in the end and they are off to South Aus for Chrissy in it on Saturday.
Like anything though well maintained they last a long time

Just got mine back from its 200k service. Only reason I went to the dealer was for the re-call on the tow bar and they had run out of parts!
Anyway $848 for a 200k service!
Only parts are spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, brake fluid and diff oils. Labour was $418!
Even though RAC stuffed up my oxygen sensor fault, they at least fully refunded and admitted the mistake. I think my last gold service plus a transmission oil flush and change cost $800!2004 GXL V6 Auto, 2" Dobinson/Bilsteins, Rola Alloy Rack, AJ's Side steps, Safari snorkel, Sidewinder dual battery, SSB agm battery, Milford cargo barrier, Tigerz11 awning with Korr LED lights, Ironman Underbody Protection, IPF 900XS with 55w HID kit on Sovereign bar, LED Reversing/Work light, Uniden CB, Diff & Transmission Breathers, CouplerTec rust protection, BFG 265/70R17, Tekonsha brake controller and tows a 2011 CUB Daintree LE.

My 2007 Update GX has just had its 240,000k service and still great and at my place of work I sold 2 x Hilux with the 1GRFE engine one with 713,656km and using no oil between services and another with 620,000k and it was purchased by someone I know and still going great. as pointed out earlier regular oil changes is the best thing that can be done for lifespan.

My 07 Grande has just ticked over 210k and is still going like the day it was bought. We picked it up 3 years ago with 140k on the clock. Only issues so far were a busted condenser for the rear aircon and now the fan in the fridge is stuffed. Engine and drivetrain are perfect and we have done some long and dirty kms in it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another gripe about dealer service. Last 200k service and they have on the receipt check battery electrolyte, yet when I check it a week later the plates are almost exposed on both batteries. Fail! I'm not sure if regular dealer service history really is worth anything?!?!!!.2004 GXL V6 Auto, 2" Dobinson/Bilsteins, Rola Alloy Rack, AJ's Side steps, Safari snorkel, Sidewinder dual battery, SSB agm battery, Milford cargo barrier, Tigerz11 awning with Korr LED lights, Ironman Underbody Protection, IPF 900XS with 55w HID kit on Sovereign bar, LED Reversing/Work light, Uniden CB, Diff & Transmission Breathers, CouplerTec rust protection, BFG 265/70R17, Tekonsha brake controller and tows a 2011 CUB Daintree LE.

My vehicle won't be going to any Toyota dealership for any servicing.
