Hello all and greetings from Dubai!
I have an 05 SWB Prado with an Icon Vehicle Dynamics lift kit (stage 2 - about 2 inches) running on Dick Cepek DC-2 rims (-12 mm offset). No other mods. I've got vibrations on the car and would like some advise.
When driving upto about 90 km/h, everything is fine. When I hit 100 km/h, I get a vibration that I feel in the steering - almost like the very start of a death wobble, but it doesn't get worse. I've had the wheels aligned and balanced - although it's difficult finding a good shop here that does proper wheel alignment. I lifted the front driver's wheel (driver sitting in the left of the car) last night and tried turning the wheel from left to right with my hands. It moved a little and I heard a ticking noise - this was to be the steering wheel that was turning left to right a little. There is some free slack in the steering. I'm now thinking that the front left wheel has a slight shopping trolley oscillation thing going, which I'm feeling in the steering wheel. Question: Has anybody had this before? Since the steering wheel is moving, I'm assuming there is no slack in the actual bushings or tie rod ends, etc. but perhaps some slack in the actual steering column.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom
Does anybody here have specs for wheel alignment for their lifted Prado?
