  • Workshop Manual

Has anyone been able to get their hands on a copy of the 120 series workshop manuals in electronic format? I have owned Subarus for years and have been able to get electronic manuals.

Along the same line, has anyone seen the "Body and Electrical" volume (even paper version)? I will phone my local dealer soon and get a price, but I wondered if anyone else had it and weather it is worth getting.

I have just received the Ellery manual and I'm looking forward to a closer look at it when I get a chance.

    Cheers,

    Drew.

      Hi Tepui,

I've tried eBay over the past month with no luck. I've got the Ellery manual and had a chance to look at it this morning, it looks okay - not as well put together as other manuals I've had over the years though.

      I'll keep watching eBay.

      Cheers,

      Drew.

With regars the Max Ellery manual, they are. in my opinion, not worth using as toilet paper because there is so much shit on the pages already. Try Gregory's instead.

          here's some good news for you;

          Haynes have bought Gregory's

So I guess you'll soon be using the Haynes (formatted & quality manusla) in the little house, and keeping the Ellery's as your pride & joy reference.

Pity to see a quality ozzy manual be bought by the likes of Haynes (since they are at opposing ends of the quality schema - with Ellery's some place in the middle).

Grab any Gregory's manuals you need before they get done in Haynes style quality, otherwise its back to the Toyota manual$$.

          Toyoyta --> Gregory's -----> Ellery's ------------------------------> Haynes

Deep Thought - you are so right - the manual is shite, my Ellery manual fell apart while I was reading it at the dining room table!  :!: :!: **expletive**

I've been spoilt in the past with genuine manuals, I managed to get Subaru electronic manuals. Nice. Wish I could get the same for the Prado.

I'll just wing it, I'm finishing off my first wiring job tomorrow, not a lot of point buying the original manual after I've completed the job! I'm capable of chasing the wiring myself anyway - besides it what I do for a living!

            Cheers,

            Drew.

                    Guys,

While I seem to be able to send a pdf from the manual, it is protected and won't copy, I know, I know you are going to say use this software and that, I have tried many

Are you saying that the pdf file can't be moved from the CD? :?: Strange one. I was at the dealers the other day and they held up the disk, still wrapped, and said "This one, oh... well it's like $500 or something".Jerks.

I got talking to one of the mechanics about the schematics and he kindly took me to the back room and showed me their library and let me look at the schematics. In doing this let me say that he proved to me that the average dealer mechanic doesn't know jack about how to read schematics or anything else electrical for that matter. I suppose they are good at changing filters and plugs and stuff. It's a shame that they have access to the electronic schematics but don't know how to effectively use them and geek enthusiasts like me can't get our hands on them.

One day I will get a factory manual, but I ain't paying that much for it!

I'd also love a copy - but I've PMd Steveo with no joy.

I'd give my left nut for the manual.

                            Workshop Manual on CD

Thought I'd confirm that a 120 series electronic Workshop Manual is definitely available on CD from Toyota. I ordered one last Thursday from my local dealer and it arrived on Friday.

Price was $60.00 (including GST). (Not $100's compared to the printed manual or as reported in previous posts.)

The spare parts guy didn't know about it and was also surprised by the price!

Part Number is SC00W0E (where 0 = zero)

It's in PDF format along with an indexed HTML search/index page and covers all model, engine and transmission variants, including incremental year changes. Dated Aug 2005.

Each CD has an individual Serial Number which must be entered the first time, so please don't ask me copy it.

Credit to the 120's lcool list, which is where this info was originally posted.

                            Happy reading...

                              Thanks for the post Steve,

I've been slack and forgot to post results of my search.

Indeed the Lcool120 list has come up the goods and I've had the CD for a few weeks now. If it only came with pre-installed spare time!

Same deal, the staff at the dealership had no idea it was available and were suprised when it arrived.

It's a great CD ROM - although the HTML interface is a bit clunky and only works in IE. Stupid security pop-ups keep warning me about the CD as I use it also. Steve, have you figured a way around this? I tried IE's security settings without any luck.

                              Cheers all,
                              Drew.
