WA Accessory Shop Experiences

G’day All,
Just purchased a 2008 Standard 6 speed diesel and currently have my SS Commodore Ute on the market to begin the Prado build up to tour around up north. I currently live in Broome and work fly FIFO so I don’t have much time on my hands to hunt around etc. for accessories. I currently have the car parked up in Perth so that I can punch out the majority of the build before it drives up top and visits Karingini etc. so I’m looking for people’s experiences with 4x4 shops in town that could do a package deal so to speak on parts. My plan is to acquire most of the parts and on my break head into Perth for a week and live in the shed putting it all on in one hit! Some items may need to be fitted by the shops in question dependant on time but it would be mighty handy to deal with the one person when it comes to my new ride.

Hi Matt I have had Coastal 4x4 in south Perth do work on mine and found them very helpfull and the quality of there work could not be faulted

Unfortunately i cannot say the same about coastal 4x4 but i did have good experience with ARB canning vale

I've heard Central 4WD in Welshpool have done some reasonable deals on gear if you ask politely. I've spent some money down at Ultimate 4WD in Canningvale and they have done the right thing. ARB up in Malaga (I think) can also be helpful.

ARB Welshpool have always looked after me, although on occasion I have been to the Canning Vale store also and found their customer service to be reasonable.

Ultimate 4WD have good advice (particularly because they do not just specialise in one brand) and seem to be well set up, however they are a bit pricey, which is to be expected given they only have one outlet.

Is it that hard to find a reputable 4x4 shop the CONSISTANTLY does quality work if Perth?

I think the issue is that there is no single shop that appears to be consistently good. The reason for this appears to be that there are certain individuals with some shops who do good work, so its a matter of dealing with the individual than the shop per se.

Not isolated to 4WD stores - every business of size has its good employees and its 'average' employees.

I guess it doesn't help when we the consumer hunt for the "cheapest price" then complain that the installer or bull bar painter did a crap job. If there was somewhere that could guarantee a right job first time I would pay the bit extra for a good painter and slightly higher wages for Breyer installers.....catch 22

Great service and quality workmanship.
Great bunch of guys.
I live 2.5 hours south and will continue to use them.

Hi there kakadaz, I've walked into a certain reputable well known 4wd outlet and not been chasing the best price, just said I want that suspension with that snorkel when can u fit it etc and still walked out with a shit job and paid full price. At the end of the day should be the store manager who inspects the quality of the work done and if a shit job then the employee should be kicked in the arse and given a warning (provided he was trained properly) and the manager should make sure the issue is fixed before the vehicle is handed back over to the owner, not just hope the owner doesn't notice it. Pisses me off we pay big $$$ to so called experts in the field and get a shit job done. Cheers Steve

Steve has a good point... Look about for locals and the business stickers, ask them. Like Steve, I have been thru mobs with 'big names' that did a shit job.

These guys looked after me remotely in conjunction with OL here in SA. Fitted up my sons XRox bar. He being in WA and me with the wallet being here in SA.

After looking at most places north of the river, I ended up at OL Wangara. I have gotten all my work done there and there after sales service is good. They are happy just to chat and give advice. They always look after repeat customers as well.
