  • Avenger Mako TDS9.5 with a ARB deluxe Bull bar

I had a good look at the Avenger Mako TDS 9.5 today at Torq4x4.
Looks like a nice setup except for the pink Syntentic rope. ;-)

Seems like it would be a tight fit with the ARB deluxe bar. Has anyone put this on without removing the ARB bar on a Prado120?
I think you might just squeze it in if you take the bottom ARB shroud off under the bull bar and push it up from the bottom near the drivers side chasis rail and then rotate it level? Also there looks to be a pipe in front of the radiator that needs to be bent out of the way gently?

    cheers

    Hi John
They were the ones that thought the bar had to come off to fit it. But searching through here it seems, others fitted it without removing the bar. All good.
Ahr the seal puller is overrated, you did a fine job with just a screw and cordless drill!

Have been meaning to catch up with you but my hands have been full with our new 6 week old baby.
Will catch up soon for a beer though.
    Cheers

PS, I got my seal puller back, thank god, well a new one from the guy that I borrowed it to.

Hi I have the mako 9500 red rope and arb delux bar read all the stuff on fitting with out removing bar but when trying to fit could not get the gear box past the bar lots of bad langue and a couple beers later removed the two chrome bars at the back that let the winch come into three bits fed the gearbox in then put it together in the bar saved taking the bar off don't know why it didn't fit like others but in the end it's in works great and didn't take bar off just a thought if you have the same issue as myself.

gumboot, re the condenser line, (small tube in front of radiator) I had to move mine ever so slightly to get my winch in (tigers 11) I managed to move it enough without any dramas. However I would be very careful doing this.

I would be really tempted to have it fitted in a workshop, that way if they break it its their issue!
        Regards, Heath.

I had to thread the gearbox in first (that was after I rotated the handle 90deg so it is on top when the winch is bolted to the bar) starting from the drivers side of the bull bar.

I undid 8 bolts I think on the bull bar and just let it lean forward by losing the 2 on the bottom. Once I got the Avenger in place, just pushed the bull bar back into its rightful place. Only took 30 minutes and the winch was in. Hardest part for me was mounting the control box... It didn't come with any bracket. All good now.

To close this thread off and to to help others. Here's what we did.
Removed the ARB radiator plate under the ARB Delux bulbar, Then removed the freespool lever from the winch with an allan key. It pops right off, then lift the winch up from underneath on the drivers side and twist it in.( you should have 2 people for this part.) Went in straight away. Took 1 minute.
Had to carefully bend back the AC bracket in front of the radiator up which moved the pipe back a little so the winch would not rub on it.
                Cheers
