Has anyone heard any rumours about a Prado facelift in the pipeline?

I had a 2003 GXL TD which i got rid of a year ago (regretting it now) and i'd like to dip back into the 4WD arena again but I have a nagging voice telling me that the car has been out for long enough (5+ years) that its due a facelift/revision, not just the engine revamp recieved lately. Especially now the Paj has been refreshed.

I'd hate to shell out the $$ only for a new model to come out 8 months later that i should have known about...

Also, seen the FJ on the USA site and wondering if anyone has heard anything about Toyota releasing it in Australia? I'm assuming its just a Prado in a party suit so would consider this a potential purchase rather than an unfacelifted prado.

    Cheers.

The FJ maybe slated for future release here, i wouldn't hold my breath.

I seriously doubt that it will be anytime soon, as we have just seen the first major update of the model.

This current version is only 4 years on, Toyota seem to have a fairly lengthy model cycle, especially one that sells as well as the Prado and the Landcruiser.

The 200 is due this month and the 100 had been around since 1998. If that provides any indication.

I have heard the FJ will not be released in rhd so unfortunately we wont get it. Like you though if they did I would seriously look at one.

          Prado Facelift

The face lift has recently been released. I received my D4D GXL at the end of October and it was the 1st of the upgraded models to be released. The changes are that climate control is now standard and the A/C is is now ducted into the rear of the vehicle with seperate controls for this. The other changes include the addition of the stereo controls on the steering wheel and the steering wheel having a leather cover.

The Toyota website will give you the full specs of each models.

            wayneee,

A bit of confusion here i think as the changes you are talking about are already well know here on this site.

I think what this post is ment to be about is a new model all together not additions to the 120

Yes. I'm always keen to hear news of the new generation model. I'll be looking at getting a Prado next year but I don't think the new generation will be out by that time.

Thats kinda what i was thinking, wasn't planning on getting the car changed until mid 2008 once my house move was completed so that doesn't leave long for it to be nice and new and shiny  before it becomes the 'old' model.

Shame about the FJ....not sure about the reason for not doing a RHD version, understand the costs involved and that it has to be worth it for Toyota but unless i'm missing something about sales figures so far i'd expect it to sell very well here in Australia as long as it was reasonably priced....perhaps the current currency markets are playing a part in this.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback guys

Has anyone else heard the late 2009-2010 release "rumor"? I'm looking a buying a Grande in the next couple of months but have been wondering about a new model being due soon(ish).

Hutch did the dealer know anything about the new model? I would expect that it would have quite a bit more power given that is the direction Toyota is going with its other models but I wouldn't wait two years!

                  Cheers

I wouldnt want to be waiting for a totally redesigned model. My guess would be that there is still another 3 years in the current model, given all the recent upgrades. It will probably be more like 4 years before it hits our shores!

If it was just around the corner I would wait but it highly unlikely in the next year or two. They are in such demand toyota cannot build the current model quick enough.

I can always make arrangements for any of you to get one and make sure it gets onto a boat headed your way. With the extange rates you should make out like a bandit.
