Hi
i went with my parents to a Lexus dealer today . Oh what a feeling!
The sales staff was polite , courteous and knew his product. These guys know how to sell cars.
contrast that to the toyota dealers I went To. Rude, arrogant, no idea of their product . Unreturned phone calls, personal insults ( I was told repeatedly i was a penny pincher for wanting a VX over a Grande) if Toyota did'nt build great vehicles, they'd be out of business.
Now don't start me on Toyota "service dept's" , they worse

If Lexus sold Prado's they'd be on a winner, oh and the delivery time would blow out to years not months.

funny I found our Toyota Dealer to be almost smothering. We actually brought ours secondhand with only 7000km's on the clock(not even run in :lol: ). They still offered coffee, still offered to throw in this and that. We just argued price and sat on what we were prepared to pay. ($31,000. It was 2nd hand after all)It helps to research first and be prepared to walk out the door if they don't want to come to the party.
The first time we looked at it at the start of the month we contacted the original owner, he was an old man( he even invited us around for coffee) They had only brought it to tow their caravan to NSW and back, then decided it was too big so traded it for a Rav. We waited until end of month to do the wheeling and dealing

As for the service department I had no problems there, but a friends daughter was ripped off royally by them (17 knew nothing about cars, treated like a girl)Charged for stuff that wasn't done, admitted they forgot to do it after being blasted over it, by a male friend.
We have since put her on to our mechanic who went over her car for her gave her a detailed list on what it needed in order of urgents and even showed her how to perform basic maintanence herself. Once the Prado's warranty expires he'll do all the work on it.

Maybe having a similar-aged daughter causes me to feel this way... but geez that makes my blood boil. Curse those who prey on the innocence of others! :evil:

It pisses me off too. I've been around cars all my life, even helped strip down a few engines in my time and done a spot of panel beating. It comes with having brothers. It's helped me greatly in the past when talking to service departments, (and other mechanical type departments) and been given the bullsh*t, because I'm a woman.
Not everyone is lucky enough to have the back up support or knowledge enough to deal with these type of leeches. They need to be taken down from time to time.

We don't know for sure the reason why the sales staff in a different way but still it's good that you had a great deal. I also got a good deal with the lexus accessories I just purchased recently.

I went to 2 toyota dealers (mackay and Proserpine), halfway threw last year, I was prepared to buy a 150 prado vx or Kakado or a 200 vx or sahara, Mackay didn't believe that I (being 17) could even afford a yaris(there exact words) so i was allowed to drive a 150 GX and that was it,
Proserpine on the other hand Gave me the keys to both a 150 gx (only 150 in the yard) and a 200 sahara and told me to go wild!

So it pays to drive 150km to the next dealer who is better.
I ended up putting my money into a term deposit for a house and buying a cheap 80 series that needed a bit of work (was a great learning experience lost money on it when i sold it but i never regret it then buying a cheaper prado a year later (2 weeks ago)

yeah I feel your pain there, Case. lots of dealers don't take young blokes seriously... so you walk out, you go somewhere else, buy what you want and drive back to the first dealer to rub it in their face...

Or what i did today, drive up into the car-park which if you park in the right spot it looks like part of the used car lot, get out and go in to buy hilux washer jets, come out and have 2 dealers ask if you want to sell it cause 5 customers wanted to know how much they were asking for the White prado Grande with stickers on the sunroof!!
