Finally Ordered my new Prado today...

Hi all,

Also waiting on a new GXL D4D, although manual and silver. I am just over 2 years into my 3 year lease with a current shape Nissan Pathfinder TD, but am sick of the reliability problems. My two biggies are that the switch for 4WD has failed twice (Both times I was lucky to have a friend along to tow my through the rough bits while we got back to civilisation) and blew a turbo due to crap servicing from Nissan. Decided that I can't keep putting my family at risk when we go bush and ordered the Prado.

Delivery is mid Feb , but I have it coming straight from the dealer with the arb bulllbar, IPF lights, winch, UHF, dual batteries and cooper tyres. Just praying that the legendary Toyota reliability is there and I have no more trouble.

Regarding the ladies handbag stick....

I jumped into a new LC200 today... the stick is gone! Just a little dial marked H4 and L4. Fancy that. The world's most capable 4WD with a dial for selecting LOW and HIGH range. Nice, I like it

This bodes well for those who prefer a dial to select LO or HI. Maybe the next Prado release... nudge nudge,

I'm new here too. Ordered mine last week. Probably be on the same boat as yours. After 3 Landcruisers spread over nearly 20 years I've seen the light. The close-to $85,000 price tag of the new cruiser with a few extras on it also palyed its part. All of our cruisers have been white so we went silver on the Prado. I saw white and silver Prados together the other day in the shopping centre carpark - mmm, dunno if I've done the right thing colour-wise but it's done anyway.

You're spot-on about that Brisbane dealer - straight down to a good low price. They are the biggest dealer in the State I guess. For me though it would have meant flying to Bris and driving it home. I shopped around for nearly 2 weeks on the phone every day. Tried brokers etc etc etc. I got a bit tired hearing the dealers' tales of woe - how little they're making etc etc. Took me a week to get the local dealer close to the Bris price. In the end they were about $200 dearer but I did squeeze full tanks of fuel out of them.

Bring on late Feb or early March.

I saw white and silver Prados together the other day in the shopping centre carpark - mmm, dunno if I've done the right thing colour-wise but it's done anyway.

Great to hear its ordered ... hope the wait time passes quickly for you.

As for choosing something that's not white ... sounds like you're being lured to the dark side Luke .... :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well while we are all doing comparisons I really like the Prado Transfer Case selector it is far easier to use than my old Pootrol and the Prado is new so should be a bit stiff when compared to a 91000km Pootrol but not so.

Electric selector switch for transfer case selector No Thanks.

Hi all first post here, joined today and have been reading a number of posts.

Am just about to add myself to the waiting list as well as I will be signing the dotted line on a silver GXL D4D tomorrow. Lucky for me I should be aqble to get it in January. Tossed up putting on the safety pack but eventually decided agianst it, this would have delayed the car at least by another month.

Also tossed up getting the VX but devided that the extra money was not really worth it.

Only going to get the standard features add, towpack, tinting on front two windows plus uv tint on the remainder & electronic rust proofing. Will decide to get the bullbar fitted later to avoid the luxury tax and will probably go for sovereign bar from Toyota.

Would like to changes the standard tyres to coopers so will have to look into that.

All in all great forum.
