  • Factory Bluetooth Microphone

I am getting complaints from people that they can't hear me - I am very quiet. I can hear them ok, and in my other car it is fine. I am using a Blackberry 8800, and we have the same problem with the wife's Sony Ericsson.

Does anybody know where the microphone is? I know it is on the right hand side of the car because you can't hear the wife at all when she is talking from the passenger's seat.

    Legweak.

The mic is on the radio. There is a small oblong hole slightly lower than centre right, that is the mic.

You may have a small problem with the setup, I once had a small bush bee/wasp build a nest in the mic mesh on our honda removable blue tooth (supertooth device) when I had it sitting on the outside workbench had me chasing the problem for days.

Check the little oblong mic hole for obstructions by eye but don't probe it.
If no good, talk to your Toyota service department about the setup.

My GXL Prado radio bluetooth device works a treat with our Telstra Phones.

      Hope this helps a little

I have the Kluger with bluetooth and the mike is hopeless, lots of twanging noises and v. quiet. Sometimes I have to stop and turn it off. Nokia 6223

I have the 8800 as well, go to the paired device in the bluetooth menu on the 8800, select device properties and changbe Echo Control to off. It is probably set to Automatic. I support Blackberry as part of my job. In most cases the Echo Control works better when set to off. This is due to many Bluetooth receivers also having Echo Control built in and by default "on".

However having said that, in some cases particularly with Blue Ant, its best to have the Echo Control set to on. Automatic is hopeless as depending on cabin noise it will switch on and off and make a mess of the call!
