  • Aftermarket Headlights for 120 series

Have just received a quote today from local Toyota dealership for replacement RH headlight in my pride and joy. My gob was well and truly smacked when I found out price was $668.00 to supply + additional $100 to fit. This has prompted some frantic searching on-line for aftermarket lights & I have come across lights for $200 + freight (considerably better than the genuine items pricewise).

My question is have any other forum members used aftermarket lights and if so and good or bad experiences ? Is it false economy to go with the cheaper item or bite the bullet & go genuine ?

Any assistance or advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks Buster, it was this website that I got the $200 figure from. Fitting will be a bit fiddly as I found out my ARB Deluxe bar will have to be loosened off & tilted forward in order to get the light out (as I found out yesterday !!!) The bar prevents being able to pull light out far enough to lift out.

Guess I know what i'll be doing this weekend

My mate works as an assessor and he has said to be carful of the non genuine lights as there normally made with shit material from overseas as normally the reflectors are shit and in sum cases have been known to melt. I would be more inclined to buy yourself a used one from a wreckers and wouldn't be surprised if its cheaper again ?? obviously depending on where you live (like yourself) you may not have many choices or if any wreckers so you may be limited to buying on line......Cheers Steve
