I have just installed a autometer cobalt EGT and boost gauge.
The boost gauge is working fine, but the EGT is a nightmare. I went through a lot of hassle triple checking the earth wire to the block (bolt on top of ?intake manifold on passenger side engine) and resoldering all connections.
Initially the gauge would go off the scale and stop, then after I checked everything and made sure the connections seemed fine the gauge would start off at an appropriate idle temperature, then after 5 mins of driving go to around 800 degrees then eventually drift down.
Now the gauge is stuck at about 40 degrees no matter what. I will send the gauge back for testing if i have to (USA), but any other suggestions? The power and earth wires are extended by 20A wire (stuff i had left over) and i have the power wire fused via a 3A blade fuse.
Thanks for any help,
james
