Just came back from my first holiday with the Prado, must say, very ,very impressed. Fuel consumption is a bit on the high side on the 4.0lt V6, other than that, all smiles.
Coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee (V8 sitting with a busted engine at the moment -AGAIN!) the V6 impressed with its towing stability and ease. Me and the S.O where so deep in conversation at some stage that when I looked down and saw the Cruiser doing 150km/h without feeling the ton on its rear I smiled. Then set the cruise to 110km/h and continued on.
We entered into a game reserved, some roads were off limits due to heavy rain and the lady at the office told us that their game viewing Land Rovers had a hard time on a few of the roads and decided to close them, but that we were welcome to have a go as they had a recovery vehicle on site (OLD HILUX).
The Prado went through these ruts and bumps without a single hiccup and we were rewarded with the most stunning views atop the mountain.
On the way back thou, the rear door window just scattered into a million pieces 20km from our end destination, luckily, the insurance will have it sorted later today.
Love this beast!

What a guy. Smashed the back screen and everything is great because he loves his Prado. Welcome to the forum. Towing trailers off-road will see many rocks flung at the back of the car. You'll need something to protect the window next time. I use some plain plastic core-flyt sheeting and simply tape it over the window.Dave

Headed down south of WA to walpole camping for 10 days and on the 2nd day battery for my fridge decides it doesnt want to hold charge for more then 2 hours ! Not happy atleast i can plug the fridge into 240v power at night to keep things cool but still a pita ! But on the plus side took the 120 out for its first serious 4wd today since i bought it and had a great time getting to some remote spots and having a fish with the old man !

That Broke Inlet is a good drive, especially if you avoid the quicksand.Dave

First lot of LED strip lighting in the back. 600mm strip run down the centre divider of the storage system with a switch wired back to the second battery via a triple cig socket I put in to run the fridge. Should be hitting the tracks in a couple of weeks - see what sort of difference that makes. Have a bunch of Anderson plugs and a Narva fuse block on the way via ebay and will get into sorting out a lot more electrical bits in the back.
Have also been getting quotes to upgrade the suspension with Old Man Emu gear (around $1700 - front coils and shocks, rear shocks, keep the airbags) and install a GME UHF - rumour has it that there is a new model about to be released with enhancements to the handset controls so waiting to see if that pans out2008 4.0L Grande, Pirelli Scorpion AT tyres, ARB Deluxe Winch bar, Warn XD9000 winch, Safari snorkel, Old Man Emu Suspension (original airbags in rear), IPF Driving Lights, Rhino Pioneer Platform Rack and attachment bars, Adventure Kings rooftop tent (when required), Waeco CFX65DZ and slide, Hayman-Reese cargo barrier, custom storage and Ark battery pack in cargo area
