Just spoke to a Service Manager I placed with Toyota. He made a few calls for me but no luck.
He tells me the old "rules" were that Toyota would honour / consider out of warranty claims to a maximum of 5 years once the car had finished its factory 3 year warranty.
The new rules are that Toyota will consider out of warranty claims to a maximum of 7 years from the date of manufacture.

Yeah pricks have worked it so it sounds really good and willing to replace within the 7 year period, so at the moment most with stuffed dashboards are what 03,04 and now 05's so 2005 + 7 years = 2012 oop sorry just past the 7 years we are wiling to give you on replacement...........assholes !!!!! they should be replacing the bloody lot of them, the product /material used to make the dash pad obviously is shit quality and should be replaced, and I'd like to no who had the science degree based on the airbag not been an issue on the pasangers side of the dash ??? I dont have the problem YET but has anybody threatened to go to A Current Affairs or the like ?? taking along all 497 posts from here with them plus the people who have complained in papers and things. Surely this wouldnt be appreciated by Toyota ?? Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Hey Tom did you get it private or from a yard ?? If private then yeah unfortunately your pretty well screwed, if from a yard then your 3 month warranty stands if it wasnt there when you bought it and has just appeared then they have to fix it...... Hi Steve was bought from a Toyota yard and i was aware of the cracks, was hoping maybe Toyota would/will come to the party and contribute a bit due to it being such a problem. Not to worry, will keep watch and see if they change there minds - otherwise i will buy a new dash and fit it myself.

Toyota reckons its a 3 hour job to replace the dashboard. It takes me all most that long to get the radio in and out!
Wont be taking my car back to Torque Toyota at Mango Hills - just a crappy attitude. Apparently Toyota was going to pull the franchise on them at one point, or so I have heard.

Hi Steve
Got the vehicle for a really good price from the dealer so no complaints, but if Toyota come to the party at some stage all good. Dash mat cover will do at this stage. First longish trip coming up this weekend so looking forward to that.
Sounds like i will be staying away from our local dealer in Mango Hill for any parts and accessories. Don't like bad attitudes...........

Yeah Im the same once some one screws me over or has an attitude I didnt deserve then stuff them not getting my money. When I worked for toyota (88 to 92) we had 5 prices for parts, total asshole price (charge them heaps) know all price (add a bit extra), nice bloke/lady really laid back price (knock the price down a bit from normal customer price) trade price and then cost price which you really only got if you worked there or for your family without the big bosses knowing lol had its perks..Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. Guys,
You can get your dash replaced but you will have to pay some. The CTTT will go to the fight for you but you will need to make a case which is simply showing that you have tried to negotiate and TM have been replacing some dashes.
There is an 'implied warranty' or 'goods fit for the purpose" and the Toyota dash does not meet that criteria.
You can apply online and pay the fee too.(small one). They contact you and TMC and then you attend a hearing. TMC will send an offer before the Hearing.
Don't give up and never pay for it yourself.

How did you go about getting them to fix it? Through a dealer or did you ring head office? I'd be interested to see.. Did you have to push hard or did they just agree straight off the bat?2005 GXL Prado, Bilstein Shockers, King Springs, IPF 900xs, Steel ARB Bullbar, 12000lbs winch, GME 3540 UHF, Weaco 50L & 38L, Dash mat, carpet and rubber Prado mats, awesome after market head unit BF Goodrich & more to come

I just went into the dealer, they took a couple of photos and said they would send them to Toyota with no guarantee that the outcome would be positive. After 2 weeks they rang back to say my new dash had arrived. They fitted it today and it looks really great. One thing in my favour I think was that the vehicle has always been serviced with them from new and always on time. This was the first question they asked me. I guess that up to a certain age they look more favorably on a full replacement with some sort of pro-rata arrangement after that, however it does seem to be fairly indiscriminate the way it has gone for some members.2018 GXL D4D auto, ARB bar, dual batteries, BFG A/T's, Dobinson/Bilstein suspension
