  • Tyres and Suspension - Will Mickey T Mtz 285/70R17 fit and work with a ARB lift on my Prado120

Hi All. I've been a member for a while now but this is my first post.
I bought my 08 Model Prado D4D just over a year ago now. The only mods I have done to now is replace the standard alloy bar with a Steel ARB winch bar and fitted my warn 9000 winch off my old 85 4runner. It's a big change for me to change from a solid axle to independent front.
The next step I'm looking into is a ARB Lift and fitting Mickey Thompsons MTZ 285/70R17. (33's)
My Question is will it work? Has anyone done it and if so posted pictures would be great.
I really want to go 33 inch tyre's because its what I had on my past 4Runner. Plus my first day out in the Prado seen the end of the side steps (now removed). ARB say it will only give a 25mm lift to front and 40mm to rear. Taking some measurements it looks like it might be tight in the front. But I'm guessing the original suspension has dropped from new and with me putting on the steel bar and winch.
    Any help will be great.
    Thanks.

You can't fit 285's with standard rims and upper control arms as the tyres will rub on the UCA'S. You need to change one or the other or both.

If you fit the 885 OME front springs you should get closer to 40mm in the front.

      Cheers Andrew

Thanks for the link and advice on rim's and uca's.
I'd like to hear from a few people if possible who have done it.
Does it or does it not work for you?

          I changed UCA's and Rims when I went to 285/70 R17's.
I get some rub on the mudflaps when turning.

Rorza posted some pics in another thread a few hours ago about 285 on standard rims. But he has changed his upper arms.

Yeah, like AJ120 said you have to change one or the other (UCA or rims) when it comes to the bigger tyres.
