Removing rear view mirror...

Hi guys,

I've done some googling but can't find how to remove my rear view mirror from a 2009 120 series Prado. I need to remove it to fit a reversing camera mirror unit.

Any advice appreciated. Cheers Budgie

Just slides up... sometimes a heavy handed wriggle helps as well. Most important thing to remember is to not pull it away from the glass. Move any direction ACROSS the glass. but never away from the glass.

Sometimes, using the handle of a screwdriver and forcefully tapping the base upwards while using your other hand to keep the upwards pressure is required. I've found that three good whacks usually gets it off.

I've replaced dozens upon dozens of rearview mirrors for the same purpose and using the above methods, I've never cracked the glass yet. BA-BF Falcon mirrors on the other hand is a different story.
