weight limit on rear tyre carrier

Hi,

I want to mount the kids pram on the spare tyre, wondering if theres a weight limit for it? Pram probably weighs 10-15kg. Will be driving on highway (apart from 30km or so on dirt road). I was going to put it on the roof but quickly realised how awkward it is to put that weight above your head into a basket. Taking it out is worse. Pram is too big to fit in boot with the fridge.

Feel free to share suggestions. My other option is to build a platform above the fridge. Which would mean I also need fridge slides. Rather not.

We bought a cheap stroller to take camping and left the pram at home. The stroller folded up is no bigger than a typical camp chair and it goes on the floor of the 2nd row seats.

Are you towing? I'm assuming not. I have a tow hitch mounted basket that I sometimes use. Looks similar to these http://www.hitchmate.com.au/cargocarrier.php

Companies make bike racks which bolt onto the rear wheel - my dad used to have one. Add a rack + 2 bikes and it's easily more than your pram plus further away from the wheel.

Don't forget the effect of the road spray (if wet) and then dust on that dirt road leg of your journey, behind the vehicle.
Protect the pram from the elements and lash it on good.
