I had an ARB timer installed on my 2007 GX Prado last year. According to ARB it is now not legal to be able to lock doors while engine is still running, hence why cannot use remote locking. I have a friend with a Cruiser and an ARB timer installed in 06-he can lock doors remotely while engine still running. Conclusion-must be way the timer is wired up.

Not quite right, Turbo timers have never been allowed under ADR's (Australian Design Rules). That's why they have never been factory fit or available as a genuine accessory.

To quote the relevant ADR:

ADR 25-Turbo timers are not to be fitted to vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1972 (ADR 25 Anti-
Theft Locks). ADR 25 requires that the normal function of the engine only occurs when the ignition
lock is in the engine on position.
