I believe it was Whitey that took the time to install a power steering pump seal kit recently.

      Hey all,

Just one thing to be aware of when you pull the pump in/out, just go easy! The top bolt attaches through a flange which comes from the timing cover plate. The cover plate is cast aluminium alloy, and I've seen that flange get completely snapped off. The pump is a very tight fit, so resist the urge to jam it or hit it in, you can easily snap that flange, and then you'll be up for a new timing cover plate....and that is a big job! ...just use some wd40 and go easy!

If you go down the rebuild road, it's quite simple to replace all the seals, just don't put the vanes back the wrong way around!

...also when you go to fill the fluid back up, watch out when you turn the engine over, as it will suck below empty in the reservoir the first pull, so be ready to top up quickly!

Hope it all works out well for you!

I thought you would have some good advise for anyone tackling the steering pump removal and repair.
