Re: Bad Smell from Rear Passenger AC Grill

No sorry, I have the older GXL with front only aircon, I only know where the front one is.

One of the other guys will know, I'm sure.

      Hi,

Have you found the drain? Suffering from the same, rotten smelling, rear a/c.

      Thanks.

This is a common occurrence for us... but it has more to do with our three kids rather than the a/c itself!

Hehe! My kid's still a baby, so I can't pin the blame on her

Found the drain. Had it checked at a local fix-your-car shop to see if it was blocked. Didn't seem to be, as nothing came out after they poked the drain hole. Perhaps I didn't have the rear a/c on for too long when they checked the drain? Will probably run it by an a/c shop for more thorough checking one of these days.

Mick, can you advise where the front one is? I'll have a look tonight but if you can advise where it is it would be great. Will also need to find the drain for a 100 series with front and rear A/C.

With the Glen20, Airco Fresh or other is the suggestion to just spray this into the noraml vents or straight into the drain tube or both? I just recently pulled the dash apart to remove the vents and gave them a really good wash to remove the last of the Simpson Desesrt that was flaying around the car. Now I've just got the dust smell that the wife and mother in law is comlaining about.

Re: Bad Smell from Rear Passenger AC Grill

We get a bit of a pong from the aircon when I first turn it on and have tried turning the thing off first and just blowing air through before switching off but it made no difference. However the stink goes pretty quick and is nowhere near as bad as the manager of Home Valley Station on the GRR was suffering from in his Troopy. I lent him a screwdriver when we were parked beside the Pentecost and he investigated the stink which nearly made his paying guests sick by taking the vents out and he found a dead mouse!
You wouldn't believe how anything so small can smell so bad but it doesn't take long for something to go off up there.
His guests were mightily relieved they didn't have to hang their heads out the windows going back to the station.
              Alan.
