I have chucked the original backings some weeks ago and the 3rd party replacement driver's side 8mm doesn't quite hold the windscreen in the top 4" or so - water steaks instead of dries. So toddled on down to Tojo Spares and asked for an original right side replacement and after several days rubber only turns up. But I need backing as well I claim! That will be $156 thank you very much as you need the entire wiper blade. Offer declined.

Anyone else solve this little problem?
Not sure what you guys have up in that part of the world, but try a major speed shop like Repco etc. Should be cheaper than the $tealer

      whiteman,
I replaced my wiper assemblies with an ebay special which is a Bosch knockoff. It's a Dong Shan brand and looks exactly like the Bosch type.

I also have the original wiper arms (front & rear) looking for a good home.

Thanks guys. New 3rd party wipers sound the go. Bosch if I can get them in Townsville for a start.

This is my 4th Prado (3 x 120, 1 x 90) and it's the first time I've had an issue fitting replacement wiper rubbers. Has there been a recent design change or was I lucky on the old cars?

Yes the factory ones are expensive, but they do last. The cheap one only seem to last 6-12 mths but the factory ones I found last at least a couple of years.

As for the glass - talk to a windscreen installer and get some "proper" glass cleaner - comes in a powder - looks like clay and you apply it with a wet cloth and it will make the glass seem like new. I'll find out the name of it and report back.
Adrian, that stuff is called Cerium Oxide. Good for getting small scratches out, too. But you'll need to use a bit of elbow grease or a special buff.

Booked my car in a few weeks ago for the 40K service and mentioned the wiper blades could do with a replacement.

Got charged $75 for the 3 rubbers !!!

              Wont do that again.

Re: Wiper refills and ridiculous cost.............

                Just replaced fronts for $9-00 from AutoPro. 1x 22" and 1x 20"

I too will not ever use the $oyota brand, the cheaper ones are just as good and time will tell as to life span.
Hell, I can buy 7 sets for the 1 set of $oyota.

Yup I found the same when I replaced it with a Bosch wiper

After getting annoyed witht the wife's pathetic wipers "dragging"across the drivers side i decided to replace the blades again.
Found the new Tridon Flexblades and gave them a go.Verdict so far(20 mins)absolutely great even though they cost apprx $28 perr side from Supercheap.

                    Driver's side model is TFB22H
                    Passenger's side is TFB21H
