  • The Build Up Sequence

    Hi Guys,

New to Prado Point and have searched all the posts with out any joy

I am in the midst of my prado build up and am hoping I can get some advice on the next steps...

Recently purchased the '09 Prado GXL 3.0 TD 6sp Man.

have put on ARB delux bar, Light force 420's, Iron Man 9500lb Winch, BF Goodrich All terains and a dual battery system.

the big question is whats next - suspension or an ARB rear air locker??

not carrying a huge load generaly just the essentials, looking at what is going to give me the most 4wd advantage out of the two modifications (knowing full well I will have to do both eventually).

Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated..

    Re: The Build Up Sequence

i would be going for the suspension as this will give the most benefit, better handling on and off the road, increased ride height for more piece of mind you wont belly her out, will go further offroad due to increased wheel travel and be able to carry a load better when loaded due to increased spring rate, the locker is still a bloody handy thing to have, but look at it this way, if ya get stuck just throw the cable out and let the winch do the work, thats my 2 cents. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

You will appreciate the benefits of a good aftermarket suspension lift everywhere you drive - both on and offroad. Go the suspension first and get the locker later on.

Thanks - I noticed you have gone for OME suspension.

Any thoughts on OME vs a King/Koni set up?

                        Re: The Build Up Sequence

I cant really comment on Old Man Emu , but those that have like it...there are a stack of threads in the suspension section on various combinations of springs and struts to check out..

Personally i like the king spring and bilstien combo..they may be a few bucks more but have been brilliant 8)
As most will vouch on this site i give my rig quite a bit of hard core terrain and trips so the ssupension has certainly stood up to it ....so far!

                        cheers joey
