Moisture Inside Headlights

Couldn't find anything on the search.
I have a 2003 Grande and there is a fair bit of moisture collecting inside at the top of the headlights, gets worse when it heats up in the sun so there must be water in there. I havent driven through any water and the car is mostly garaged. The plastic is starting to yellow where the moisture sits.

Has anybody got this problem? Can the headlights be taken apart to clean, or are they sealed?

Also can anybody tell me the cost of a new pair.

I guess by the look of things (100 views no replys) I am on my own with this one. So in case anybody wants to know, I called Toyota,they said moisture not a common problem but does happen. Cost of headlight is $455 each. There you go, should have just called them in the first place.

If you have to replace the headlight, I would have a look at removing the headlight, see if you can seal the seam, remove the globes and place the light on its front to allow the moisture to escape. once dry reinstall headlight.

I'm tipping the moisture is entering from the bottom of the light and getting caught in the top...

Not sure if this helps with the headlights but I had the same problem with the tailights. I got some silica gel packs that come with computer gear and placed this in one of the rear of the lights - not inside though, behind the globe holder! Only had enough for one light so I got the wifes old stocking and put a handful of crystal cat litter in it and placed that inside the rear of the other light - moisture gone! I guess working out the best place to put it for the headlight might be more of a problem. The small silica gel packs may be small enough to sit under the rubber dust boot at the back of the headlight. Anyway given the cost, $0, as most people have some floating around from some sort of packaging - it may be worth a shot.

your not alone timmy, my 2005 has the same thing....but if i get a chance it will have water in every nook and cranny when i do my first river crossing :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: butane

Okay went to Toyota and the service manager said it wasnt moisture, said it was discoloration from age turning the plastic yellow and giving the look of moisture inside. Suggested very fine sandpaper to bring back.
Solution; rubbed down the affected area with 1200 (wet) wet n dry sandpaper, left visible scuffing so followed up with meguiars scratch x and finally some car polish. Good as new. Stoked!
