Seat belt - Unable to pull out when on steep incline

Hi folks,
I assume I am not the only one who has this problem.
When on a steep incline (both uphill and downhill) and I need to get out to check out the path ahead, when I get back in, the seat belt has naturally fully retracted and is then locked in that position. The end result is I can't put my seat belt on until I have passed the obstacle - which is not a very pleasant nor safe experience - given that in the unlikely event of a rollover there is no restraint! :cry:

Anyone got any bright ideas on how to overcome this?

I spoke to Toyota and they said there is nothing they can do.

I keep a bulldog clip in my centre console, clip it onto the belt by the b pillar to stop it retracting, when I remember ops:

Yep, this is a real problem for 4WD adventuring.

A while back there was a death where a fellow was in his vehicle as it was being recovered from a steep climb. The chain broke, his vehicle rolled down the hill and since he wasn't wearing a seat belt he was ejected from the vehicle and died. When I first read the story, I thought "tsk tsk; silly not wearing a seat belt". Similar to your experience P1, it wasn't too long after that when I realised I was also unable to put my seatbelt on after leaving my Prado parked on a steep slope whilst I checked on those following.

Bottom line, if you find yourself in that situation... be ultra careful and get it back on asap.

I feel it really needs some sort of an override, though that might cause bigger issues too.
