VX- bluetooth and ext aux sound system

Hey Drewski,
I borrowed an iPod today, plugged it in and WOW. Sound quality is very good, and the iPod controls work thru the 3.5mm connector, that is you can crank up the volume using the iPod from the back seat.
Parents with teenage kids be warned!!!

Just joined and waiting for Prado to be delivered,
Was reading your problem with Samsung701 and may be able to help.

I have one that I bought at Telstra shop with a Blueant Bluetooth thrown in.
Tried it with phone in one room and Bluetooth in another.
Worked perfectly.

Had a friend down and was showing how it worked , only trouble was it didn't.

Back to Telstra shop to seek advice and was told that the Samsung 701 does not automatically switch onto Bluetooth.
She set my phone up so that when I open it and arrow up it takes me to a menu where I select "My Devices/Supertooth 4.0" and then it is only necessary to press the button on the bluetooth unit for it to work, when an incoming call is received.

Will be interested to see the Bluetooth in Prado when it arrives.

Hi Pedro i have to open phone up and push yes to activate it. Other wise phone beeps at me every 30 seconds because it has picked up signal.

not sure you got a reply, but i just got my Grande and yes the bluetooth is integrated into the sat nav...very nice feature anda pleasant surprise as i had no idea it was a feature. touch screen calling etc.. works a treat

My GX comes with an Aux headphone jack input for the Ipod, which is great. No track names come up on the stereo but you can control the volume and tracks etc from the ipod. It is a single disk stereo and i don't think it has blue tooth capability. I have had a standard phone car kit installed. THe aux input was a surprise when i picked up the car in March (07 build date) as i hadn't seen this in D4D demos

I have just got off the phone to Toyota in a quick search for the cable that allows you to input an Ipod into the AUX jack in the new 07 Prado. It costs $88 and comes with a incar charger as well.

Does anyone know if there is another cheaper brand out there that fulfills the same task? $88 is a lot for a cable in my book.

on my GXL I hook up a Zen Neeong and all it takes is a short white lead with a jack at each end, and I think it came with the Zen.

Dick smith would probably have one .

$88 eh. sounds like a business oportunity. i go to dick smith buy my $8, yes $8 , buy a lead with a 3.5mm at each end and sell it less than the Toyota price of $88

Ok it dosen't come with a charger, but an ipod will play for about 12 hours between charges. if you want a charger. buy a cig lighter type with a USB plug outlet, $29 at Dick Smith
Trust me go to any electronic store, not toyota.

I agree. I asked toyota because i was curious to see if their cable would control the audio from the Prado steering wheel - nope!

So I guess its dick smith powerhouse.

I had a Belkin that charges and has input.. works great.. but now I have the Pioneer head unit the ipod is hidden away and connected direct to the head unit.. great being able to control the ipod through the head unit.

I have a July 07 build GX D4D...has Ipod jack but no bluetooth. The Ipod jack works fine with a Nano. The sound quality is not as good as CD wave file, but it never will be.
