  • New diff seals

Hi, I have recently had new rear diff seals put on my 04 Prado. The front and rear brakes were replaced too. There is a “ burning” smell coming from the rear wheals.( Not an oily).
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Probably brakes, did you replace the handbrake shoes? Are the shoes too tight against the drums?

Possibly handbrake not adjusted correctly. Some brake fluid/grease may have gotten on the discs. Go for a drive, foot off the accelerator, see if it slows down quicker than normal? After a drive, use back of your hand, feel around centre hubs of all wheels, see if any feel hotter than the others?

New brake pads produce a burn in smell too, it may dissipate after a while.
