Hello All,
I currently have a 2002 90 series Grande T/D and look like upgrading to the current VX D4D T/D in the near future.
I am wondering if some of you could assist with a couple of queries that I have.
Firstly the 90 series when it came to purchasing tyres most common stronger A/T were in the 70 series and not 65 is this the same situation with the 17 inch rims as I noticed a signifcant change up hills when I up sized.
Also the hard spare tyre cover that I had was no longer able to be used on the larger tyre, once again is this the same with the new hard cover when going to 70 series tires on the 120.
The dual battery set up in the 120 is there a large area for a little larger then the N70 standard size as I currently have a Fullriver 120 AGM that is 331mm long and I just scraped it in the 90.
I believe that the batteries are on the opposite sides as apposed to the 90 with the starter battery on the passenger side.
Have most of you with the T/D left it in this manner or have swapped the batteries over with the starter on the driver side.
I heard that there was an inner guard issue cracking has this been resolved as the AGM battery is a whopping 35 kg and I have always been a little concerned about the weight on the inner guard. Also which side is the turbo on as the heat from the turbo is something I am concerned about for the battery, although I have had a insulated stainless box made to protect the battery as I initially had the first battery expand with the heat. Any one notice a difference in the heat under the bonnet between the 90 and the 120 for those who have had both models.
The locations for a UHF also seems a little more difficult I have a ICOM PRO 400 that I would like to keep and at this stage the centre console compartment with an extended mike lead and maybe an external speaker may be the best option, any one else installed the full size UHF and had any success. Appreciate any feed back. Thanks.
