  • aircondition thermistor

    Hi,
i have a 120 series 2007 D4D and have a problem with aircondition. The compressor cuts every 30 seconds or so and temperature is not cold enough. I have gone through this site and found many information and followed up the procedures explained in : http://paulpickford.com/prado/index.htm
However when i opened mined (the glove box and so..), i could see a black wire (instead of green) and could not see any plastic holder as explained by Paul. The black wire (assume it is thermistor) is going behind a white panel which is screwed to the main frame. Can anyone suggest how to remove the thermistor? do i need to open the entire section in order to have access to thermistor? Is the black wire thermistor?

    Thanks

    Kam

The wire shown in the link is black it just has a green sheath on it. Can't help with the other questions. Goodluck.

        Re: aircondition thermistor

It is a black wire with a green cover, the plastic retainer in the pic has been damaged so it will look different to what you have, post a pic of it please.

          Re: aircondition thermistor

I will take some pictures tomorrow. The cover of wire is black instead of green, so black wire with black cover.

I could not upload the photos here so i placed them in phtobucket and here is the link:

            http://s1182.photobucket.com/albums/x460/kam-mash/
as you can see i loosen up two screws to remove the white plastic cover (black wire goes behind it) however realized there are more screws in difficult spots if i want to remove the entire plastic cover. i stop here as i am not sure if this black (wire and sheath) is thermistor and how should i proceed further without damaging.

            Thanks

That is the thermistor and it seems from the pic that you "should" be able to remove it. I saved your pic and resized it, so here it is

                Re: aircondition thermistor

                Hi Nick
Do you know if I can simply pull out the thermistor (I can pull back the white plastic and create a bit of gap by a screwdriver, where the thermistor is inserted)? Or this thermistor is attached to something else behind this cover.

                Thanks

                  Re: aircondition thermistor

In my 2004 model the retaining bracket (plastic is bent) and needs to be pulled and turned to remove it, and the wire does require a bit of help as well but keep the pressure on the plastic during removal. Thermistor is clipped onto the end of the plastic thingy as you will see once removed then it will become clear once in ya hand what is needed.
