Well folks after 12years driving my auto V6 90s 270km i have retired her to a new shed,to make room for the younger, but not sure it is a prettier , 120s model.I picked up a good 1 owner full service history 2004 120s GX diesel 5sp manual with 140km for $22000 from mates father inlaw in the obliquitry SILVER colour.Although i had always set my heart on a replacement D4D with auto at some stage i was struggling in my head with the $ being asked for 2nd hand models when for me the prado spends Monday to Fridays in the shed and only comes out on some weekends to play and the towing of camper a few times a year and a trip to QLD once a year to drop off the xmas presents to the inlaws.[have ute for work] So with this in mind i grabbed this prado when it became available. My impression have been ,i like the diesel torque, the clutch is heavy [not sure if this is the norm or it may need replacing] the girls like the back seat so much better, for me the simple gx [previously rv] black bumper no flares etc are what 4wd should be about.
It has a few goodies OME shocks [new], gxl wheels ,grey soverign bullbar ,powerbrakes.
Now the build up can happen, the list involves new lights, uhf radio, new coils, some bfg tyres, maybe a new ipod compatable stereo,to start with.I will be reading these 120s pages now to update my knowledge and ideas to prepare, and scanning ebay
I was going to strip the old 90s of some items but ended up selling it within 2hrs of giving it a clean for $9000 to a young couple known to us who are keen get out and explore so am happy to see it go to a good shed, and i have given them the link to this great site.
So there we go ,i hope i don't keep dreaming about the d4d but i keep saying that there is alot of diesel money saved by buying this bus and i hope i don't miss the auto as well.
cheers
Russell
