Hi. I know this going to sound like a dumb question, but I just picked up my 2008 Diesel Prado after selling my Petrol 02 and noticed it doesnt have a sub tank switch. I've read the manual and not really the wiser, so can someone enlighten about how the sub tank system works. PoppyG

Re: Where's the Sub Tank Switch
Hi poppyg,
im fairly certain and anybody please correct me if im wrong, but there is 2, 90L tanks and they dont have a switch to go from 1 to the other. so a total of 180L
no sub tank switch to speak of.
Cheers, RonRon - 2004 GX 120 Prado 1KZ-TE manual with a forever changing extras list...

Re: Where's the Sub Tank Switch
It switches automatically between the two. When the first tank is empty, the fuel gauge will jump from halfway to full and the green 90L fuel light will come one.

Re: Where's the Sub Tank Switch
I don't know if all 120's are the same, but mine doesn't switch between tanks. All fuel is supplied from the front tank. The rear sub uses a boost/ejector pump which continually draws fuel from the sub, and tops up the front tank until the rear is empty.
There is obviously some logic in the gauge system so that it knows when the rear tank is empty, etc.I remember when sex was safe, and flying was dangerous!
