Hi there . In South Africa , unfortunately the 120 series diesel models were only available with the KZTE engine . The D4D's , which are far more superior to the KZTE , were only fitted in the later 150-series . A friend of mine has got a manuel 120 which he enjoys very much except for overheating problems and cracked cylinder heads . He is thinking of fitting a 3.0 D4D engine together with auto box, maybe from a wrecked 150 . Rest of the car is still in good condition . He can't afford a used 150 , so I am investigating on his behalf . My questions are, (1) what , besides the engine and gearbox, does he need ( like electronics ) from the donor vehicle (2) what major problems do you foresee in doing this transplant (3) do you think it is a viable option (4) any unknown pitfalls please ?. At this stage he couldn't find a wrecked 150 , what makes it difficult to decide about the viability of the project . Any suggestions please .
