    Re: National Modification Laws

So all this carry on and scare mongering is bullshit
Of course it's bullshit.... half the stuff we read on the net is crap, gossip or taken out of proportion :!:

If we look at this extract:
the certificate must be provided by the
manufacturer or a manufacturer’s authorised dealer, a person competent in such modifications or an
    engineering signatory.

"ANY COMPETENT PERSON OR AND ENGINEERING SIGNATORY" .... Suppliers will just issue blanket certificates for their kits.... they aren't going to go out of business for the sake of a little paper work.
So you get your certificate and go for an RTA inspection... whats the big deal??????????????

Those of us with other more hardcore vehicles both 4x4 and street cars have been dealing with engineers and transport authorities for years.

Apart from the having the certificate done 99% of lifted Prados on this forum would be legal under this....

      Re: National Modification Laws

I have copied this from another forum that was posted by a very experienced mechanic whom I know personally and respect. I am not saying what he has written is correct but it is something else to consider for discussion. This other forum deals in the lowering of cars not raising

"I got the new rules today -
I'll try to explain how they work -

Draw an imaginary horizontal line across the centre of the wheel - then one across the highest arc of the wheel arch.
Measure the distance between the 2 lines - this is the "trim height" - under the new rules you cannot alter trim height by more than 50 mm's without having the vehicle engineered...........

The major problem that brought this on is that with late model cars with ESP, ABS, Traction control etc, altering the vehicle ride height can in fact corrupt the operation of these electronic aids.
And, the way I understood the new rules, they only apply to vehicles manufactured after August 1, 2009."

I highlighted the "more" word in the above quote not the author.

Also the quote below is true in most cases.
