          Re: ironman lift kits

Hi Ba77hy looks great, thats a pretty big lift for the front. I got 55mm on my EFS lift with heavy duty front springs but every time i went over a bump or drop off at 10-15km/hr+ I got a disturbing noise. The problem was because I didnt have any extra weight up front (which the HD are designed for) they were forcing the wheel back down too fast and bottoming out the strut. Solution wast o replace with MD springs until I get the bar, extra battery and winch.

you got decent lift in the front. i got 770 after lift and then sagged to 745 after 5000-10000km and 7 months.
this is why i'm not happy with this brand.
            hope you have better luck.
i did see somewhere were ironman listed the IFS lift now as 35mm.

              Time will tell Damonat!

I hope they don't sag, but if they do I will contact the Rep back and upgrade the front springs, or buy the springs from Dobison, OME or another brand!

If anything does happen, I will be sure to post it and any repsonses I get from Ironman!

You need a minimum of 60mm of droop in the front [this is the difference between the ride height measurement, and when the suspension is fully drooped]

If you dont have this, it will lift wheels, top out the shock turning at a roundabout, and destroy it.

The rear needs at least 70mm droop.

At those measurements you have, I would be checking it quickly.

                    Re: ironman lift kits

                    Hi guys.

We fitted up my Ironman suspension yesterday. Something just doesnt feel right.

My measurements are as follows (sorry I never took a post lift measurement...)

                    LHF: 820mm
                    RHF: 825mm
                    LHR: 820mm
                    RHR: 820mm

Now after looking at everyone elses measurements mine seems quite odd.

The only weight I have at the front is the Sovereign Bull Bar.

In the Ironman kit there was a 15mm spacer which sits under the spring base on the strut for the fronts only. My question is, should I have not fitted the spacer? Is the spacer meant for guys who have heavier loads on the front end only? My other issue is that when I take off, the rear squats heavily and the front wheels look as though they're going to lift off the ground! Is that normal? I was thinking some airbags would sort this out? Will they help?

Thanks for your help in advance.

                      Re: ironman lift kits

looks like you didnt need the spacer,i installed mine and at the time i had soverign bar and duel batteries, now i have a winch over the front and mine has settled to 790mm in the front, i would be careful about how much down travel you have left because you dont want to top out your shock everytime you hit a decent bump, and you would also have to watch the angle on ya cv joints, they recommend you have at least 50mm down travel left, so see how it goes it will sag a litle over time, but i would take the space out and run with that for a while, let it settle, and if ya not happy with the height put it back in. cheers samo

Thanks for that Samo - I thought the spacer was what made it so odd...but so many other Diesel owners fit them up and they measure up completely different to mine.

Oh well its on the hoist as we speak getting the front struts taken out! I hate doing the same job twice! And to top it all off I cut the ABS sensor wire...spewing.

                          Thanks Assassinoffroad!

I have not checked it, I have been running with it for a while now and now problems yet! I will check it ASAP.
I also beleive that the springs haved sagged probably about 10mm all round, but I will have to check with a ruler to make sure!

hi all, just wondering if anyone has fitted foam cell in the front and gas in the rear just wondering if it makes a difference to the handling

my lift kit arrived today and it was not until I got home and found the front struts are foam cell not gas as I ordered

hey shane and jodie i have the foamcells in the front and nitrogas in the rear, it handles really good, mind you my springs (constant load) are 3 years old and have done 70k, i also have fitted bar ,winch and dual batteries, i also have the 15mm spacer in the front and last time i measure the height was at 810mm, which still gave me 55m droop in the front, rear is still at 830mm, handling wise i think the foamcells make a big improvement, it doesnt pitch up as much as with the nitrogas when i hit a large bump, more controlled and not has harsh. cheers samo
