Have returned from Fraser and can report that the suspension set up was a dream. The extra clearance eliminated any issues with bottoming out on the deeper ruts on the inland tracks. The ride as a whole was very supple and I felt in total control the whole time. Didn't get bogged at all though my mate in did on the way home at Inskip Point after disembarking the barge. Admittedly he was in a 2.7L Hi-Lux and towing a camper trailer.

As general report on the trip we were blessed with blue skies and mostly light winds but it got damn cold at night. We go the same time every year and this was easily the coldest trip. Was in the very low single figures every night. The main problem with this was that all those sexy young back packers were wearing too many clothes

Lots of dingo activity compared to previous trips too. Not sure of the cause for this but they dind't seem to be too shy near people or vehicles.

          Re: ironman lift kits

Can anyone with the ironman liftkits tell me what is the overal height of their prado (top of roofrail) after the lift?
I'm very interested in getting this kit but a bit worried with the overal height, since my garage is just a little over 2m.
          Any advise? Much appreciate it.

            Re: ironman lift kits

I have had iron man now for about 10k i went the diesel pack which i think is confort springs but a bit befier in the front for the extra weight of the engine and i only tow once in a while I also went the foam cell shocks as they were not much more expensive and i charge down the dirt road to the farm a bit

Well the original springs must have been shagged as the bloody thing came up 3 inches but has njow settled down to about 2.5 love th ride it is heaps better and it can still fit in the car park at work 2.1m for the question re the overall height
Dont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further

              Re: ironman lift kits

It's good to know Ironman are doing well despite the 'economic downturn'... I emailed them via their website a week and a half ago to enquire about a 2" lift I am about to purchase. They must be flat out as no one has bothered to get back to me - and I don't feel the necessity to chase them up, so their loss will be Lovells' gain... Or OME's... or...

Not that I was too serious about them, but pretty amazing they let it slip down the back of the sofa when I sent them my phone numbers and email address... Ho hum...

Just goes to show how deep initial impressions go.

If they can't even respond to an initial enquiry, it doesn't give you much confidence in the company if you start to run into problems after your purchase.

                  Re: ironman lift kits

Indeed Madcore, indeed... So, in order to 'help' Ironman further, I went and ordered a 2" Lovell's lift kit today. Getting them fitted this coming Tuesday. Followed by a test camp in the High Country the following week. Purely in the name of 'research' of course...

Considering how busy Ironman are, my winch will probably have to come from Warn or Premier. Poor bastards...

                      ironman are hopeless.
i also sent email enquiry when i was first looking into them.
                      to this day still nothing.
i rang them and tryed to order them only to be told it has to go through another company (mmm bit dodgy).
did that, and received them and fitted them (deisel kit with constant springs in rear).
8000kms and 9 months later, the front was back to almost standard height.
                      tried there warranty. (f--- wits).
took atleast 2 months to get another pair of front springs and then they said i had to pay for them.
and we'll send yours back for inspection.
not likely was i going to deal with them anymore.
so OME was installed and only done maybe 2000km and 2 months.
you wont find me recommending ?????? them.
(there are so many other words i could use to describe them, that i currently stick with these  )

when i first rand Melbourne, they are nice/friendly.
just everything after this was no good.
if you want a good product/name, you have to be able to back-up your items.
                          from my experience, no good.
time frame for replacement parts and them you pay and we'll look into it.
this attitude doesn't inspire confidence in your product for the long term

Ummm... With my enquiry I told them I live less than 10km from their head office and would love to come down to take a look at what they'd recommend. If their pre-sales service is this piss poor then how's about trying to get any after-sales service?

Nah, a bunch of losers in my personal experience.

Well it may just be a problem for some, but I just self installed mine on the weekend! Ironman look good and feel great so far, however only time and torchure will tell!
The local rep on the other hand, is brilliant! he has tried various setup's in his D4D prado, and sold me and a mate on the comfort ride setups!, using the 15mm spacer for the front to handle the extra weight! Installed Polyairs in the rear at the same time to aid with the towing loads!!

Anyway, if I have dramas with their gear or aftersales service I will post here! But so far they have been the best for service, my mate even got to drive the Rep's rig to test it out!!!
