    Okay... got an OME suspension upgrade today and the missus has got the car. She says wow - felt like she needed a ladder to get into it :lol: :lol:

    I will post some pics as soon as I can. Will also measure rise and let you all know the difference.

    Can't wait to see it. 8)

      Well, here it is... new OME suspension added!

      BEFORE:

      AFTER:

      We ended up going with the following option:

      Front OME884 coils + 9000 struts
      Rear OME896 coils + 60005 shocks (and OME661 stone guards).

      Before / After heigh measurements (double-checked by myself):

      LHF 635 -> 795mm
      RHF 635 -> 795mm

      LHR 745 -> 825mm
      RHR 740 -> 825mm

      Towbar height went from 370mm from ground to 460mm.

      Very happy indeed.

        Nice lift there NTPRYCE!
        Love the clearance under the running boards now mate. Iam telling my Beloved that Prado's are made for suspension upgrades, "Just count the grab handles Dear" :wink:
        :wink: Cant wait to hear your thoughts on the OME set up after you have had a chance to get amongst it, particularly towing the Challenge camper.

        Cheers for now Troy

          Nice work there David.

          After fitting of mine it was sitting at 790/789 at front and 844/843 at rear. After 500-600kms of settle it's now 784/790 up front and 836/838 at rear. The ride feels good and will feel even better when I'm actually doing something other than driving around Adelaide :lol:

            Good on you NT, it looks great! It gives the Prado a really nice stance.

            Mine is scheduled for Friday. I pick it up Sat and head straight out to Mount Mee to give it a test ride. Can't wait!

            Cheers,

                All good NTP! It really is amazing the different look the lift gives it. Really now looks like you could tackle some decent terrain with it. 8)

                Counting down to my lift date now too. Another week to go though. I have the Bilstein's and Ridepro's sitting right here on the floor of my garage taunting me. I can tell you right now where I'd rather them to be.

                  • Re: OME suspension lift

                    OK. Finally bit the bullet and had the new OME sports suspension fitted today. After reading all the comments here and taking advice from the guys at ARB (who have upgraded many Prados) I went for the 883's on the front and the 896's on the rear.

                    The reasoning was that advice for the front was similar to other comments in this thread. I was told Prados have a very firm front factory setup so unless you have a heavy aftermarket front bar and dual battery not to go higher than the 883's. Even then it would be touch and go.

                    For the rear I was advised that the the 896's are needed for carrying a decent amount of gear in the rear. True it will sit a bit higher when not loaded but with a simple drawer setup (even empty) and keeping the fuel tank reasonably full will keep it sitting nicely. Fridge also lives in the back all the time.

                    Before FRONT 735, 740
                    REAR 775, 775
                    After FRONT 755, 760
                    REAR 820, 820

                    Not the best picture but will update on the weekend.

                      Hoppy50, can you post a pic later of your rig on level ground (side on) to see what the rake is like with the 883s up front and 896s on the rear?

                      We were going to go this way but then changed to 884s up front instead. We have a sovereign bar up front but no dual battery. We're very happy with the lift, ride and look. I'm sure you will be too, but I am interested to see what 883/896 might have looked like. Cheers. 8)

                          sorry haven't replied earlier.

                          springs i am using now are:

                          OME885 up front
                          OME896 in the back

                          i put the 896's in the back for my trip to Adelaide, and thank god i did. nothing else would have held the weight up. drove extremely nice on the high way.

                          i will be changing the rear out for the lighter 895's with a 20mm coil spacer. this will give me a bit more height above how the 896's sit now, but will be a lot better for ride plushness, and off road ability.

                          as the way my Prado is set up now, it lifts a back wheel almost as much as it did with stock components. this is due to the heavier 896's with no weight in the back.

                          when i get a chance, i will try to post some pics. i will also remeasure the heights and post up soon.

                                Just replaced my Medium Duty RidePro springs with Heavy Duty OME springs (OME 885 and 897).
                                These are matched with Bilstein struts / shocks.
                                Increased front lift from 765mm to 810mm.
                                Increased rear lift from 810mm to 860mm.
                                These are fitting day measurments so will probably settle a bit.

                                Cheers - Byrnsie
