I have had lovells springs and bilstein shocks fitted all round 1 month ago.
They ride great and work well in rough stuff.(trip completed with west coast 4x4 club. http://www.westcoast4x4.com.au/. last weekend.
WA suspension fitted these and if you want the part numbers I can add them.
But Lovells and Bilstiens are just another mix to the suspension mine field.
        $1550.
Fitted 265/70/17" cooper ST wednesday and are going to test the set up this weekend around Dwellingup WA.
Try and find some mud. Has been a bit dry lately.

p.s. Front went up just over 55mm, Rear over 75mm.
The request was for a little lift, off road handling and load carrying.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

Sorry to bump an old topic.

Paul (pcm_120), thanks for a very detailed posting.

I wonder how you (or any one else for that matter) are finding your OME suspension setup now you've owned it for a while. I find sometimes people talk up their new purchases immediately after parting with the cash - and sometimes offer a more balanced opinion after some time.

I'm thinking of taking the plunge now I've got the winch installed. OME seems the best option for me as I have a ARB dealer nearby. If I lived closer to Geelong maybe I'd consider ATS, but I want to deal with some local who is willing to stand behind their product.

          Cheers,

          Drew.

            Drew,

your other option, if you have a dealer nearby is the new Koni Type-88's...

they'll cost a bit more than OME (as do Bilstein), but they are fully rebuild-able (as are Bistein), whereas the OME shockers are throwaway items...

Guess it depends how much you're going to stress them I guess...

              Hey Jeff,

I had the same set up done to my prado but found the front dropped back to normal ride height after the suspension settled. I am thinking this is because WA suspensions didnt put in the heavy duty lovells in the front even though my prado has ARB bullbar and duel Batteries. Would you agree thats its because of the normal load rating lovells put in? Wilkinson suspension are going to put in king springs Heavy Duty in the front next week assuring me that I can regain 50mm lift in the front.

Booked in for the OME kit to be fitted on the 14th June.
Hope it makes a difference offroad, sick of hitting the floor and chassis against pebbles ops:  :?

Awesome. Can't wait to hear how it goes. I nearly bought the OME shocks, but got romanced by the Germans at the last minute.

Well I just picked up my truck from ARB and instantly noticed a big difference in the way it handled and felt, just on the bitumen. Ended up with about 2.5 to 3 inches of lift. The new snorkel also seems to have made a little difference, not much, but noticable in pickup.
At this stage extremely happy with the way it looks and feels, but even more happy that it still fits in the garage !!!!!!!!!!

I was veeeeery worried about that, but just sneeks under..... wheeew !!
When I get a chance I will take some snaps.
                    cheers

Drew, sorry I have not replied to your question earlier, I only just found it.

I have since changed my rear shocks from N142's to N141's. The 142's are meant for the OME896 coils which are a HD pair. The 141's are a softer rate and with the OME895 coils, the vehicle is much smoother.

So far everything has performed well and I am happy with it, mind you I am always looking and thinking how I can get more lift, better articulation etc etc.

                      Cheers,

                      Paul.

                        suspension 120 series

I have just fitted long travel dobinson shocks on the rear of mine, because the old man emus were to short and kept toppin out. Its amazing how much more flex it has in the rear now (over 100mm more drop now)

What did you do to prevent the spring from poping out?
BTW, do you owned a 120 or an 80 series LC?

                            suspension 120 series

Bolt the upper internal bump stop to chassis and a clamp or plate over the bottom of the coil. The shocks I used are 80 series and are about 65mm longer than the omes which when flexed give you around 100mm more drop at the wheel,I have the heaviest ome coil in the rear and it only just comes off the upper bump stop at full flex.

                                Hi toymad80
With that longer shock, Does the shock bottom out first or the bump stop when its fully compressed?
                                Jeff
