Rear Shock Guards

Hmmm .... my old OME rears were 55mm OD and the stone guard obviously around the same ID but they could possibly be screwed in a tad further. 46mm OD though sounds kinda on the skinny side for a rear shock!

Yep, just measured an old OME shock and it 55mm, original shocks are 48mm. Sounds like ARB might have given you wrong measurement. My guards are screwed up fairly well on the 55mm shock (I have 80 series shocks in the rear) I doubt they would tighten on anything much less.

They do a good job, my guards have taken a beating, bolts and shocks are fine which is the main aim.

The bloke I spoke with at ARB didnt sound completely sure but thats what he told me so went with it. 55mm does sound like a more reasonable size. Tomorrow I will measure what I have on the truck and might go back to ARB and see if I can measure what the working range (fully compressed - bolts at max length) really are on the guards.

I fitted these covers from Bilstein to mine when i did it & i fitted some sticky Counter Top dots behind them to space them for air to get in around them & also to stop the cover scuffing the shock badly.


Then i found these OME one's that i like better as they cover the lower bush and eye also.

I have the Bilstein guards - they look after the bolt and lower parts of the tube but the rest of the tube is pumbled to the max. Some new Billies going on next month all round.
