Hi PP,
Looks like I'll be finally getting around to my lift, with all the stuff ive done it should have been earlier but finally its time..
I was carrying way too much for the recent Fraser trip and was bottoming out on a few cut up inland tracks, loaded up I must have been super low but that's another story..
at present Ive got the works up front and DIY drawers with 100KG+ in the rear im currently sitting at:
FL 725
FR 725
RL 735
RR 738
*sadface
Ive been looking around for a while and I'm almost settled on US Bilstiens 5100 front and rear or 5160 in the rear if i can afford it.
I plan to import them, and buy some Dobbinson coils from #### in Vic. Im also going to do the upgrade myself, likely to remove the whole struts and take it to a mechanic to set the new completed stuts up so I dont need to go down the spring compressor route.
(I know there is a thread on an in-car strut removal without the coil but im not confident I can do it) might just make it easy and drive the completed strut over for the change over. safer too.
my main questions regarding the purchase are not about the different products or the install, that will come later no doubt.
what I want to know is when doing the upgrade should I do any of the other mods at the time to save me doing it again or can they be done later easily, things like. Diff drop, extended links, spacers, airbags etc. keep in mind im doing it cheap but if its significant I'd do it to save time.
I'd like to get a maximum lift so things like UCA upgrades are not out of the question but will more likley be down the track.
I guess I dont really know the geometry of all things suspension so I dont know at what point I need the links, spacer, or diff drop and at which point I can run larger tyres.
Should I start at the middle cir-clip slot and what should I be looking for when I am deciding where to let things sit?
lots of questions I know, but if there is any advice Id love to hear, last of all Ive only considered dobbinsons or king springs. any major difference?
Cheers
