I like your theory Corsa - I reckon the lower shaft would be the way to go as for which order to replace them. My thinking would be:
1) It's likely to be the most exposed and therefore susceptible to damage.
2) Being more exposed, could be cheaper to fix as far as labour is concerned.
$300 + labour to fix what is a most annoying problem is a bit easier to swallow than what I thought I may be up for...
I think this will be on the list of things to do in the new year.
In both your posts Corsa you don't make much mention of the upper steering shaft being an issue - any reason for this? Minimal likelihood it is damaged?
